Sound and Audio

For our title sequence we were influenced by Gone Girl. This title sequence is mainly silent butcome across as quite eerrie and dark as it is matched with the darkeness. We wanted to create a similar effect with our title sequence. Because we had a missing boy we wanted to create something creepy to match this but be dark at the same time. We decided to record Charlotte saying a few lines from the Grimms tale of Hansel and Grettel. Whist editing we realised that it didnt sound as eerie as we would have liked so we decided to add an echo to make the recording sound distorted and we also added a nursery rhyme song in the background which sounds very diturbing and uncomfortable. This therefore gives the audience the feek that something bad has happened to the child because it is linking childlike things with negative ideas. For the rest of our title sequence we wanted to create an atmosphere that would still be eerie but also be quite sad so that the audience would understand what the main protagonist is feeling. We settled on light piano music which created a slow pace but also allows the audience to connect with the main protagonist and understand the tone for the whole film.

When we were finding our music we used website such as:
http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/cinematic
https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/
We looked for music that was fast paced and would go along with the theme of mystery. We found music in the end in the youtube royalty free music library and found the track of the creepy sounding nursery thyme that we use in the beginning of the piece. We found our other music that we used on http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/cinematic and downloaded them to iTunes before transferring them on to final cut pro.
